EDITOR’S NOTE

T. S. Eliot had famously said “April is the cruellest month” in his seminal poem “the Wasteland”. For us, in this part of the world, April means leaving the balmy spring behind and entering the intensely hot summer. But keeping the impending heat wave aside, this is also the time for new beginnings, as many parts of India celebrate the dawn of a new year in their regional calendar, a time for festivities, joy and hope. In this spirit, we at The Antonym Magazine, bring to you a mélange of poetry, fiction, book reviews, interviews and creative non-fiction this month. We are covering a bouquet of languages—Bangla, Hindi, Urdu, Italian, Romanian, Turkish, Tamil, with a special focus this month on Odiya as a language. The book reviews orient you towards what’s new in translated literature and surely as always, we are always eager to read and review exciting translations that are treading audacious steps in the literary world. We are also bringing back serialized publications of longer stories in Bangla and Hindi this month, two beautiful stories by Sadique Hossain and Neelakshi Singh.
